Le Beau Ideal

My latest book. Available on Amazon.com Thanksgiving Day, bookstores nationwide Christmas Eve.
"Le Beau Ideal", the latest collection of photography from Brandy Lindsey, illustrates a marked growth in the artist's vision. While continuing to offer up countryside landscapes of the rural South, unparalleled in their picturesque serenity, she expands her canvas to include portraiture of writer William Paul Carter and near anthropomorphic scenes of a lonely ladderback chair. It is, however, in the final image of this collection that Lindsey realizes the title of her book, "Le Beau Ideal". The Ideal Beauty is most apparent in El Pescado, the golden hued image of a desiccate fish found on the rocky banks of Barren River Lake. With El Pescado as with much of Lindsey's work the viewer is invited to realize an atomic connection, an inescapable beauty in everything, a beauty that extends to the bone.

St. James Art Festival

Last Saturday I went to the St. James Art festival in Louisville, Kentucky and just now got around to loading some pics of it. The area was beautiful. There was a lot of neat architecture. Most of the buildings were several years old. They had a lot of interesting art work, ceramics, jewelry, etc to look at. I bought a rocking necklace made out of an antique spoon and watch parts as shown in the pic below. The guy had tons of cool jewelry made out of silver reasonably priced. His website is www.silverchestcreations.com if you want to check him out. All in all it was a good trip.

More pics from Kentucky Down Under

As I mentioned in the prior blog my trip to Kentucky Down Under this weekend was awesome! They had a ton of fun filled activities available for families during their annual Aussie Fest. I absolutely love this place! They have many cool animals and reptiles. It is also a very scenic area. It's almost as though you are walking through Australia. I was able to get some great landscape shots. They even feature tours of the Kentucky Caverns which has some very interesting stalagmites and stalactites. Their homemade fudge is to die for. If you are ever in Kentucky do yourself a favor and plan to spend a day at this wonderful place. You'll be glad you did.

A preview of Kentucky Down Under pics

I spent the day shooting at Kentucky Down Under. It was a great day, the staff was great, and I got some wonderful shots. I finally got home and I'm getting through them all. There were so many great shots to choose from. I'm posting a few tonight, many more to come tomorrow.
