The Boston Daily Globe Titanic April 16, 1912

These are some photos I took of an old reproduction of the April 16, 1912 issue of The Boston Daily Globe reporting the Titanic tragedy and fate of the passengers.

  1. I believe this is my favorite piece. I absolutely love looking at this newspaper. It not only tells the story of Titanic and it's passengers but about the way newspaper was printed in 1912. It tells many stories, not literally, but physically. Yeah, definitely my favorite!

  2. My grandmother was born in 1901 and lived to be almost 100 years old. She had vivid memories of the Titanic sinking from the newspaper headlines and special prayers they said in church for survivors at the time. Your posting brought back my memories of her telling me the story. I enjoy your blog!

  3. I'm glad you like my blog, Sarajan. I try to take pictures of as many treasures as I can that I come across to share them with a large audience and preserve a little bit of history in cyberspace. Amber, you are the only person I've ever met that was as Titanic obsessed as me.

  5. I recently found The Boston Daily Globe April 16, 1912 Titanic Sinks newspapers, morning and evening edition, pristine condition, including a Lafayette IN morning newspaper. I'm curious what the value of all three would be. I've considered selling. I also have a variety of ten Titanic books. Anyone interested in this collection? The Lafayette paper is dated as a reprint. The Boston Daily Globe newspapers has no identification anywhere that they're reprints.

  6. How can I distinguish the difference between an authentic copy and a reprint copy of this newspaper? I cannot find a "reprint" date on the newspapers anywhere. I have a Lafayette Titanic newspaper which I did locate the 1998 reprint date.

  7. I just know this one is because they released a bunch of these in 1997 when the Titanic movie was first released. As far as any marks indicating it is a reproduction there aren't any.
